I think it'd scare you even more, if you did know the person, than if you didn't.
I've never been to one, I think I'd be okay with it though. Death doesn't shock me or scare me.

I know that feeling, a person can look so different when she/him is dead, my mum too used the "soul" idea, like the essence of a person, when that leaves them, they look like a completely different person, and I must admit, I agree with this. It definitely is not like Snow-white, that seemed just to be asleep, they always looked VERY different to me.
